“Getting a qualified inspector to assess every element of the frame means potential issues can be fixed before it becomes a costly exercise or involves other trades such as plasterers, painters or electricians,” Fred said.

In one recent inspection of a two-storey residential property in Caboolture we identified three pages of defects for the builders to rectify before any plasterboard walls were added.

Frame defects included missing noggings, wall studs that needed straightening, adjustments to tie- down rods to ensure correct positioning and bracing of nib walls, just to name a few.

“Many people trust in their builder to do the right thing and don’t feel comfortable double checking their trades’ work because it’s not their area of expertise, or they feel out of their depth.”
